Safeguarding and responsible use

Honest about what this can and cannot do.

We want this to help, and we want to be clear about its limits. Please read this if you are going through something difficult.

If you need help right now

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, this website is not the right place. Please reach real, trained support:

  • Emergency: call 999 (in the UK) if there is an immediate risk to life.
  • NHS 111: call 111 and choose the mental health option for urgent help that is not an emergency.
  • Samaritans: call 116 123, free, any time, day or night, if you need someone to talk to.
  • Shout: text SHOUT to 85258 for free, confidential support by text.
  • Your GP can help you find ongoing support in your area.

What this platform is

The Aligned Self is a self-development tool. It helps you understand patterns in how you relate to yourself and to other people, and gives you a structured, honest place to start working on them.

What this platform is not

It is not therapy, not counselling, and not a substitute for either. It is not a diagnostic or medical service, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. It is not an emergency or crisis service, and it cannot respond to anyone in danger.

Using it well

Some questions may bring up feelings that are uncomfortable. That is normal, and it is worth taking gently. If working through your results feels like more than you can hold on your own, that is a good reason to involve a professional or someone you trust, alongside or instead of this tool. Going more slowly, or stopping, is always allowed.

Our responsibility

We describe results plainly and without shame, and we point you toward proper support when something is beyond what a website can offer. If you ever feel a part of this platform is not being responsible with a difficult result, please tell us at hello@alignedself.co.uk.
